A typical rhodiola rosea dosage is one or two tablets, or 100 to 300 mg a day. These are best taken in the morning until you are sure how your body will react to this plant extract. It has a tendency to have a stimulating effect on the body at low doses, and until you know what constitutes a low dose for you it is best not to take too close to bedtime. At a slightly higher dose it can have the opposite effect and it can be a sedative. This amount varies amongst the population.
There are numerous ways to get this dosage. Rhodiola is available in tablets, drops, teas and tinctures. If you drink the tea, a typical daily amount that is within the recommended daily dosage is 2 cups of tea a day. Side effects are rare, and not very serious, but should still approached with caution.

Tablets or capsules are standardized and a normal dose is one or two a day, one in the morning, and then one more in the early afternoon. Again be careful about taking too close to bedtime. For some people this will have no effect on their sleep, in fact it can be a great sedative and increase restful sleep. Others will become overly activated and suffer from insomnia.
A high dose is often considered to be anything above 1,000 mg a day. Although treating depression with this root can sometimes call for higher doses such as this. The increased alertness and mental stimulation is very helpful with depressed individuals. It can snap a person out of a poor state of health just as quickly. Rhodiola rosea has a number of wonderful infection fighting properties as well as disease prevention aspects that can naturally enhance a bodies own ability to resist illness.
The stress reliving function of the herb is well known. Taking at a normal dose for several days will provide a calming effect. When studies have been performed using a double blind study, the users of the herb showed better results than those taking a placebo.
Like all herbs, take with precaution and watch your body's reaction.
